Added up what I spend on beauty in a year and I've been sat here in silence for ten minutes

Did a budget spreadsheet this weekend because we're saving for a deposit and I wanted to see where everything goes. Did NOT expect the beauty column to be the thing that floored me.

Lashes (infills every 2 weeks, Β£45) β€” Β£1,170

Gel nails (every 3 weeks, Β£38) β€” Β£658

Colour + cut (every 8 weeks, roughly Β£140) β€” Β£910

Brows (every 6 weeks, Β£30) β€” Β£260

Odd facial/wax here and there β€” maybe Β£300

That's over Β£3,200. Three thousand two hundred pounds. On a salary where that is genuinely not a trivial amount of money.

And the maddening thing is not one of those individual appointments ever felt extravagant. Β£45 for lashes feels normal. Β£38 for nails feels normal. It's only when you multiply it that it becomes a number that makes you feel slightly sick.

I'm not about to give up everything, and I'm aware some people will say it's my money and I should spend it how I like, which, fair. But I do think I'd have made different choices years ago if I'd ever actually done this sum.

So genuinely curious:

- has anyone else done this exercise and what was your number

- what did you actually cut, and did you regret it

- and is there anything you dropped and genuinely didn't miss at all

Currently eyeing up the lashes because it's the biggest line by a mile, but I've had them for four years and the thought of seeing my actual lashes again is mildly terrifying.
