Three different lash techs, three completely different aftercare rules. Who do I actually listen to?
Moved house last year and have been through three lash techs since. Every single one has given me different aftercare instructions and I've reached the point where I genuinely don't know what I'm doing anymore.
Tech 1: no water for 48 hours, absolutely no exceptions, made me sign an aftercare sheet
Tech 2: "you can shower whenever, just don't blast your face"
Tech 3: told me I could literally swim the same afternoon if I wanted
All three seemed competent, all three had good reviews, all three had nice work. But those can't all be right?
Current tech is number 3 and honestly my retention has been the best of the three, which makes me think she might know something the others don't. But it also feels like the one giving the most relaxed advice being the one whose lashes last longest is... counterintuitive?
Also every one of them said something different about oil. One said no oil anywhere near my face, one said just avoid the lash line, one didn't mention it at all.
So:
- is there an actual reason techs give such different timeframes or is it just personal preference/superstition
- what should I actually be doing
- and is it weird to ask a tech WHY her advice differs from what I've been told before, or does that come across as questioning her competence
Genuinely just want to look after them properly, not trying to catch anyone out.
