Relocated from Nottingham to Portsmouth two months ago for work and I'm only now realising how much I took my old beauty setup for granted. Had the same nail tech for 4 years, a lash girl who knew exactly what suited me, a hairdresser who I never even had to explain anything to. All gone lol.

Since moving I've had: one gel set that lifted in a week, one haircut where I said "just a trim" and lost 3 inches, and I haven't even dared book lashes yet.

Google reviews feel useless because every salon has 4.8 stars somehow?? Instagram looks great but you can't tell filtered pics from real work. And asking coworkers feels random because their taste isn't necessarily mine.

So genuine question for people who've moved — what actually worked for finding new regulars? Do you just accept 6 months of trial and error? Book patch tests / small services first before committing to the expensive stuff? Stalk local facebook groups?

And to any techs/stylists reading — what should a new client actually ask you to figure out if you're the right fit, without being annoying about it?
