Salon offered to skip my patch test "just this once" so I could get lamination before a wedding. I said no and now feel silly?
Wedding on Saturday, decided last minute I wanted my brows laminated and tinted for it. Rang around Tuesday, most places said they'd need a patch test 48 hours before and couldn't fit both in.
One salon said they could squeeze me in Thursday and "we can skip the patch test if you've had lamination before, it's fine, most people don't bother". I HAVE had lamination before, about a year ago, different salon, no problems at all.
And I said no thanks and hung up. Then immediately felt like a bit of a diva about it, because genuinely, what's the actual risk if I've had it done before with no reaction?
Ended up going to a different place who did the patch test Wednesday morning and fit me in Friday, so it worked out anyway. But it's been rattling round my head since.
Was I right to walk away or was I being precious? Is "you've had it before so it's fine" actually a reasonable position for a salon to take, or is that a genuinely dodgy thing to offer?
And separately β is it normal that out of about six salons I rang, one was willing to skip it? Made me wonder how common that actually is.
