TPO ban next month — do I actually need to bin my current gel stock or am I overreacting?
Seeing the TPO thing everywhere suddenly and now spiralling a bit about my stock cupboard.
I've got maybe £300-400 worth of gel polish and builder gel that I bought over the last year, various brands, no idea which ones contain TPO because I never had a reason to check before now. Some are big names, some are smaller brands I got from a wholesaler that I genuinely can't even find an ingredients list for online.
From what I've read the actual "ban" is more about new stuff not being manufactured/sold after certain dates rather than me not being allowed to use what I already have? But then I saw a comment in another group saying insurance won't cover you if you use "banned" products after August regardless of when you bought them, which sent me into a slight panic.
So realistically:
- can I keep using my current stock on clients after 15 August or not
- has anyone actually asked their insurer directly about this and gotten a straight answer
- is there an easy way to check if a specific product has TPO without emailing every single brand
- for the ones I genuinely can't identify, do I just... stop using them to be safe, eating the cost?
Don't want to be the person who overreacts to an Instagram infographic but also don't want to be the person who gets caught out because I couldn't be bothered to check. Anyone actually dealt with this practically yet?
