New lash tech won't infill my old artist's work and wants me to pay for a full new set — standard practice or money grab?

My usual lash artist moved away (devastated, we'd been together 2 years) so I found someone new with great reviews about 15 mins from me. Messaged to book an infill since my current set is about 2.5 weeks old and honestly still in decent shape, maybe 60% left.

She came back saying she doesn't do "foreign fills" on another artist's work, and I'd need to book a removal plus a full new set with her. That's basically £95 instead of the £45 infill I was expecting.

Part of me gets it?? Like she can't vouch for the old glue or application underneath. But also part of me is like... my lashes are fine, they've been fine for 2 years, surely you can just look at them and see whether the work is decent before deciding?

Asked in my group chat and got completely split opinions. One friend said every good tech she knows has this policy. Another said her tech happily filled someone else's work after a quick check and it was fine.

So genuinely asking both sides here:

- lash techs: is this a real safety/quality thing or partly a way to get new clients onto full sets? be honest lol

- clients who switched artists: did you find someone who'd fill existing work or did you just accept the removal + new set cost as part of switching?

Trying to decide if I keep looking or just accept this is the price of my old tech abandoning me for Manchester.
