Paid for "5D Russian volume" and I'm fairly sure I got 2D at best. How do you even prove it?
Went somewhere new for a treat before a big birthday and specifically booked (and paid for) their 5D Russian volume set. £185. Their menu had 2D/3D at £145 and 5D at £185 so I knowingly paid the extra for the denser look.
Set looks... fine? But honestly it looks like the hybrid sets I've had before at a lot less. Definitely not the dense dark lash line I was expecting from the photos on their page. Appointment was also done in about 1hr 40, which from what I've read is fast for a proper volume set?
Then I went down a rabbit hole and started looking at my lashes with my phone camera zoomed in and I genuinely cannot count 5 extensions on a fan. Looks like 2, maybe 3 in places.
So realistically:
- can you actually tell D-level yourself or am I just staring at my own eyelashes convincing myself of things
- is there a legitimate reason a 5D set would look/feel like less (my natural lashes are on the finer side, would a good artist quietly downgrade without saying?)
- and if I do raise it, what do I even say that doesn't sound like I'm accusing her of ripping me off
Genuinely torn because if she DID adapt it for my lash health then fair enough honestly, I'd just have liked to be told. But then should I have paid the 5D price?
